Waxing · Lycon · since November 2019

The original craft at 10 Minories.

Lycon hot wax and strip wax, performed by Mikki and Manisha. Bookable in a lunch break from any City office. From £10.

Hot wax · or strip wax

Two kinds of wax. Which one for you.

Hot wax · Lycon

For sensitive areas · gentlest grip

Australian-formulated hot wax that grips the hair only — not the skin. Applied warm, hardens as it cools, then lifted off as a solid sheet. Brings each follicle from the root with significantly less pain than strip wax.

Best for: intimate areas, underarms, the face, anywhere the skin is thin or sensitive.

"She makes waxing painless and is very efficient." — Treatwell, March 2024

Strip wax

For larger, less sensitive areas · faster

Soft wax applied with a spatula, lifted off with a fabric strip. Faster than hot wax over a wide surface area. Slightly more pulling sensation because the wax adheres to skin as well as hair — but on robust areas this is barely noticeable and the speed is the upside.

Best for: legs, arms, back, chest — larger areas where speed wins.

"Fast, painless and affordable." — Treatwell client review

  2. 02

    Skin prep

    The wax itself

Section by section. We hold the skin taut, work with the hair growth direction, and lift against it. Steady rhythm. We pause whenever you ask — but most clients are surprised at how brief this is.

Frequently asked

Straight answers.

How long does the hair need to be?
About 5mm — roughly two weeks' growth for most people. If it's much shorter the wax can't get a grip. If it's much longer we trim it first; no extra charge. If you're unsure, book and we'll tell you on the spot whether to wax today or come back in a week.
I've never been waxed. What should I expect?
Honestly: the first session is the most-feared and the least-painful (because it's quick). The hair is at its strongest follicle attachment on the first wax; sessions 2 and 3 are easier as the hair grows back finer. We talk you through each section before we start it. You can stop at any time.
How often should I come back?
Four to six weeks for most areas; closer to three for facial work. Coming back at the right interval means the hair is in the same growth phase each time, which makes the wax cleaner and the regrowth softer. We'll suggest a rebooking date as you leave.
Can I have a wax during my period?
Yes. Skin sensitivity is slightly higher around the start of a period, but it's not a reason to cancel. Wear a tampon or menstrual cup if you're booked for intimate waxing; we won't ask, but it's the comfortable option for everyone involved.
Should I wax or have laser?
If you wax already and like it, keep waxing. If you've waxed for years and would like to stop, laser is the next step — and we can do both in the same clinic. Read about laser →
